Two men charged with sexual assault
indictments for which they have been bailed.
A 33-year-old St. George's man was freed by Magistrate Edward King on $3,000 bail on Thursday on a charge of sexual assault against a visitor on October 7.
The man was not required to enter a plea to the indictable charge but his lawyer, Richard Hector promised "a vigorous defence''.
But the man must surrender all travel documents to the courts.
On Friday, a 24-year-old Devonshire man was freed on $3,000 bail with a surety in relation to an alleged assault on December 5.
He must also surrender his travel documents, report to Hamilton Police Station twice a week, and must not have any contact with the complainant.
On Thursday Mr. King warned the Press against using the man's name or street address -- which came after an incident on a broadcast radio newscast.
"To the members of the press and media I warn you under section 329 (c) (1) of the Criminal Code against publishing any of this man's details that could lead to his identification,'' Mr. King said. "This is the sort of thing that should not go unpursued.
"It's just like people using offensive words at the Flagpole on the Queen's Birthday or a ship captain spilling oil in the harbour,'' he added.
"We've got to follow the letter of the law. The ship's captain will get dealt with -- even if it is an accident.''
