a city shopping mall this week.
The six visitors were snared on Wednesday evening while hundreds of people enjoyed Harbour Night celebrations on Front Street.
Apparently they wandered into Butterfield Place and the adjoining elevator lobby for the Bank of Butterfield.
But while in the lobby, a time-lock door closed trapping them inside.
The visitors' yelling attracted passers-by who got help from two members of the Reserve Constabulary.
Any concerns that the six people trapped may have been up to mischief were quickly alleviated when they flashed their badges, indicating they were Police officers visiting the Island from the US.
The reserve officers were able to get them released after contacting Bank security guards.
