The attacker panicked and let his victim go after she struggled violently and managed to scream for help.

The assault took place just before 10 p.m. on Wednesday as the woman passed the Railway Trail at the western side of Rockaway Road after visiting the Port Royal Gas Station.

As she passed the Railway Trail entrance, a man grabbed her by the chest and dragged her up the Trail before indecently assaulting her.

The attacker is described as a light-brown skinned male, 5'8tall, physically fit and of medium build. He was wearing light blue baggy denim jeans and a dark coloured hood.

AIR JAMAICA JET DIVERTS TO ISLAND FLY HTH Air Jamaica jet diverts to Island A passenger jet flying from London to Jamaica was forced to make an emergency diversion to Bermuda on Saturday after a passenger suffered an apparent heart attack.

The Air Jamaica Airbus 340 from Heathrow to Kingston touched down at the airport at 1.45 p.m.

The patient, a British citizen, was taken to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital accompanied by his brother.

Police said yesterday he was stable and was expected to be transferred to the intensive care unit for observation.

The jet left the airport at 4 p.m. and continued to Kingston.

MATERNITY PATIENT'S COMPUTER STOLEN CRM Maternity patient's computer stolen Detectives are trying to catch a heartless thief who stole a personal computer from a woman's hospital room at the King Edward VII Memorial while she was giving birth.

The crook sneaked into the woman's room in the maternity ward between 5.25 p.m. and 7.10 p.m. on Friday while the woman and her husband were in the delivery room.

The theft, of the grey Psion Series 5 hand held computer, took place during visiting hours.

In one incident, a man left his wallet containing cash and credit cards on the kitchen counter of his condo and returned to find it had been taken.

A thief broke into the room of a vacationer at Waterloo House on Pitts Bay Road early on Saturday morning.

The woman discovered her balcony door was open and the thief had taken a purse with money and credit cards, and a money clip with a substantial amount of cash.

MAN HIT IN THE FACE AT BUS STOP CRM Man hit in the face at bus stop Detectives are hunting a robber who hit his victim on the face with what is believed to be a beer bottle.

The thug struck the 51-year-old man just before 6 a.m. on Saturday just south of the bus terminal on Church Street after asking him for a cigarette.

The assault took place as the man reached into his pocket to hand the crook a cigarette. He suffered bruising and swelling to his face but refused treatment.

The robber, who is described as a short, dark brown skinned man, clean, clean-shaven with blue jeans, then reached into his victim's pocket and stole some cash.

MEN FINED FOR DRUNK DRIVING CTS Men fined for drunk driving Three men were fined and banned from driving for one year on Friday after admitting they drove while impaired.

Michael Colin Glasgow admitted to Magistrate Archibald Warner he drove a private car while drunk at 1.40 a.m. on October 1 on Middle Road, Warwick.

Glasgow, 33, of Cooks Hill, Sandys, was found to have 210 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood in his system. The legal limit is 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

Brian John Williams pleaded guilty to riding a cycle on Middle Road, Devonshire while impaired on October 20.

Williams, 20, of Tee Street, Devonshire, was stopped by Police at 1.10 a.m.

and was found to have 270 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of his blood.

And Melchar Pavel admitted he too drove while impaired on August 5, 1998.

Mr. Warner heard Pavel -- formerly of staff housing at the Southampton Princess -- was arrested by Police on South Road, Paget and was found to have 173 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

Each man was fined $500 and given the 12 month ban from driving all motor vehicles by Mr. Warner.

MAN STOLE ATM CARD, GOT CASH CTS Man stole ATM card, got cash A remorseful confession complete with a declaration that he "wasn't happy'' with stealing earned a Pembroke man a suspended sentence on Friday.

Jeffrey Charles Butterfield -- in prison for non-payment of $3,000 of child support, pleaded guilty to stealing a $30 ATM card and $600 from the Bank of Butterfield.

Butterfield, 31, told Magistrate Archibald Warner he turned himself in to Police on September 29 because he "wasn't happy with the crime'' of stealing the card and the money the night before.

"So you turned yourself in?'' Mr. Warner asked the 8 West Park Lane man.

"You are saying you are not a thief. And you were upset with yourself?'' Mr. Warner gave Butterfield the nine month sentence suspended for one year after hearing he broke into neighbour Dennika Denise Durrant's cycle and found the card and pin number in a storage compartment.

Crown counsel Leighton Rochester said that less than an hour later, around 11 p.m. on September 28, he went to the Rosebank branch of the Bank and withdrew $600 from the account.

He walked into Hamilton Police Station and informed them of his crime, adding: "That's why I'm here. And I need a break.'' Mr. Rochester said Butterfield also told Police he had used the money to buy alcohol, cocaine, heroin and cannabis.

CLUB CAUGHT OPEN AFTER 3 A.M.

EAT Club caught open after 3 a.m.

Police yesterday issued a warning to owners of licensed premises that they must obey the law after one club in Hamilton stayed open after 3 a.m. this weekend.

Police revealed that one establishment in Reid Street remained open after 3 a.m. on Sunday and committed a number of offences under the Liquor Licence Act.

The matter will be duly reported. Police did not release the name of the establishment.
