Women step forward
army life'' has persuaded eight women to sign up for an open house this weekend.
The annual campaign is aimed at females, though the Regiment would welcome any male that wanted to sign up.
Organiser of this weekend's "fun camp'', Major Bernie Gibbons, was yesterday delighted with the number of women who have shown interest. He said the Regiment was keen to have women become volunteer members because they had an "integral part'' to play in its operation.
There were many jobs for women, he said, including medical duties and being clerks or signallers. The campaign's advertisements, concentrate on the fun and camaraderie of the Regiment.
Prospective female volunteers were invited to stay at Warwick Camp from 2 p.m.
on Saturday until noon on Sunday to get a taste of the Regiment. For further information call Major Gibbons on 238-2162.
