against a 37-year-old Pembroke man, after he admitted to a less serious offence.

Charles Gladwin Williams, of Laffan Street -- who had denied attempting to murder Carla Simons on July 27, last year and wounding her with the intent to do grievous bodily harm -- yesterday changed his plea on the second offence.

Crown counsel Mr. Stephen Harrison said the Crown would therefore not proceed with count one.

Williams, who was represented by Mr. Richard Hector QC, will be sentenced in the Supreme Court this afternoon.

He was released on $3,000 bail.
