Auction offers something for everyone
next week.
Among the more puzzling will be a massage table, and one person's entire household contents.
Swimwear, computer paper, cement, books, magazines, golf clubs, watches, deoderisers, televisions, sweat shirts, and electrical parts will be in the mountain as well.
And plenty of bottles of wine, gin, vodka, and champagne, will also be up for bidding.
"It is not junk by any means. There will be some very good buys,'' said Community Affairs Minister the Hon. Leonard Gibbons, who will be the auctioneer.
The auction will be held at the Number 6 Passenger Terminal, Front Street, on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, between 10 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. and 1.30 p.m.
and 4 p.m..
There will be a preview of all the items from 8.30 a.m. to 9.45 a.m. on Wednesday.
The auction is usually held every other year, with the money going towards recovering Customs' storage costs.
"I don't really find the number of items that surprising, although it's unusual for one person's entire household contents to be included,'' said Mr.
Gibbons.
There was "every sort of reason'' for people not to collect items from Customs, and avoid paying duty.
"It may be somebody sends a person goods he just doesn't want,'' he explained.
