Dean Grant of Ocean Avenue, Devonshire was stopped by Police on February 16 riding a Yamaha motorcycle south along Dutton Avenue.

He told Police his name was Preston Eugene Dowling and his birthday was August 18, 1968. The officer recognised him and after checking the records found out that he had been disqualified since January 14, 1988 and was not due back on the road until July 15, 1996.

Lawyer Mr. Richard Hector said his client, now 24, had been continuously disqualified since 1987.

"Like all other young people he had to sow his wild oats,'' Mr. Hector said.

"He's now older and has a daughter. When he was stopped, he was only 23 and he lost his job. He's been continuously living in suspense awaiting his trial.'' Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis fined Grant $200 for making false statements and $300 and a further 12 months disqualification for driving while disqualified.
