Vaughn Edwards, of Warwick, who has been convicted of the offence 23 times in the last ten years, received a six-month suspended jail term in April after admitting to the offence.

But he was stopped again on May 24 while taking part in the Bermuda Day Parade celebrations.

And just five days later, Police pulled the habitual offender over yet again.

On each occasion Edwards was charged with driving while disqualified, driving while uninsured and driving an unlicensed vehicle.

In Magistrates' Court yesterday morning lawyer Elizabeth Christopher suggested the suspended sentence was too severe. She said Edwards was not a reckless driver and did not represent a threat to the public.

"It was foolish in the extreme but he has come to court to put all this behind him,'' she told Senior Magistrate Will Francis.

But pointing out Edwards' horrific track record, which includes eight convictions for the offence in the past two years, Mr. Francis said: "He has committed a pretty serious offence. He was endangering the public by riding while uninsured. Had he hit anything or anyone, there would have been no insurance for that person.'' Mr. Francis sentenced Edwards to terms of six months for driving while disqualified on May 24 and 29 and also ordered him to serve a consecutive term of three months after activating the suspended sentence.
