Bermuda Institute honours grandparents
grandparents will be honoured, the school's director of development Frigga Simmons announced yesterday.
K-12 students have invited their grandparents to come on campus throughout the day and spend time with them while grandparents of elementary school students will visit classrooms and share stories with pupils about when they were children.
Mrs. Simmons noted: "Here at Bermuda Institute we encourage students to cultivate bonding with their grandparents, recognising that grandparents make a valuable contribution to the family life and society at large.
"They are our immediate connection to the past, to the traditions and experiences that make us who we are today.'' The elementary school has celebrated grandparents' day for the past three years and this years marks the first time celebrations have been extended to the middle and high schools.
A special chapel service will be held at 11.15 a.m. today for students and their grandparents.
Said Mrs. Simmons: "This celebration offers Bermuda Institute students an opportunity to salute their grandparents and all grandparents and also thank them for their gifts of wisdom and knowledge that they pass on to them through their life examples.
