Bermuda jazz bites the Big Apple
New York City.
Leroy Francis, 18, had his taste of the high life when he was drummer for a jazz ensemble playing -- Bermuda-style -- for lunchtime crowds in a Big Apple music store.
Leroy performed alongside US musicians Hayes Greenfield and Tricia Woods in the Manhattan HMV store, as part of a Bermuda Tourism promotion for the up-coming October Jazz Festival.
The event featured a prize draw for a Bermuda holiday and was shown on Fox News in New York on Tuesday evening.
In the Autumn, Leroy will be heading back to the US to attend music school. He will study at the Baris Academy in Vermont.
Ticket sales for the fourth Bermuda Jazz Festival are understood to be ahead of last year and vacation packages focusing on the event are also being sold.
The October 15 and 16th show, at Dockyard, will feature George Benson, Al Jarreau and Patti Austin.
