Bermuda's waterways have been busy this week with a mixture of regular and occasional callers.
The Dreamward pulled into Hamilton Monday with 1,185 passengers, for its penultimate visit this season.
According to the ship's local agents, discussions are underway to possibly add 500 berths to the regular Bermuda caller.
Meyer Agencies president Henry Hayward said plans are still "in the talking stages'', but stretching the vessel would leave her unable to berth at either Hamilton or St. George's docks.
He added that Dreamward owners, the Norwegian Cruise Line, also intend to add berths to the Windward .
Lloyd's of London reported recently that the Line planned to stretch both cruise ships at a total cost of $120 million.
The article said the company is presently negotiating a contract with Lloyd Werfert in Germany for what was the first step in a fleet expansion plan.
However, Mr. Hayward said, the line is bound by contract to replace the Dreamward with a vessel of similar quality until the 1999 cruise ship season.
Also berthing in Hamilton Monday was the Zenith , with 1,180 passengers. Both she and the Dreamward are due to sail today.
The Meridian arrived from Wilmington, North Carolina, this week with 975 passengers and is due to sail tomorrow.
John S. Darrell spokesman Marie MacPherson said the Song of America and Royal Majesty also arrived on schedule with 1,319 and 981 passengers respectively.
