Bermudian arrested in New York on cocaine charges
Black Family Productions is leasing the Leopards Club Plaza, a section of the Leopards Club building, not managing the Leopards Club itself as reported in yesterday's paper.
Black Family Productions co-owner Curtis D. (Steve) Simons was arrested in New York last month for allegedly importing eight kilograms of cocaine.
Police reported yesterday that Simons, 42, who is also the entertainment and marketing director of BFP was arrested by the Drug Enforcement Administration on May 22, in his hotel room, and was charged with conspiring to import the drugs into Bermuda via the US.
The Bermuda Police are assisting with the investigation and the DEA are conducting inquiries.
Simons, of Smith's Parish, is staying at the Brooklyn New York House of Detention and will be indicted next week. Simons was the manager of Spinning Wheel nightclub until last year and earlier this year he, along with Black Family Productions, took over the management lease of the Leopards Club and hosted the Achievement Awards.
