Bermudian policeman found dead
a Court Street mob, was found dead in his Devonshire home yesterday morning.
Parish constable P.c. Troy William James's body was discovered around 11 a.m.
in his apartment on Valley Heights Road. He had not shown up for work.
His death was being investigated, but there did not appear to be any suspicious circumstances, Police said. He was found in a collapsed state.
An autopsy will be done on him today, Police spokesman Sgt. Roseanda Jones said.
The Royal Gazette understands suicide is not suspected and that P.c. James may have died of natural causes.
A source said he may have suffered a possible heart attack. P.c. James served on the Bermuda Police Force for eight years. "We are all shocked and saddened by his untimely death,'' Sgt. Jones said. "I know that I speak for the entire force in extending our condolences to Constable James' family. Troy was very personable and a well-liked, jovial individual.'' Others who knew him expressed similar sentiments, saying he was very together.
A Police source yesterday identified P.c. James as one who helped rescue Det.
Con. John Frye, who was being beaten by thugs in early morning melee on Court Street. P.c. James was off-duty at the time.
P.c. James was single and survived by his parents, sisters and other family members.
His last appointment was as parish constable in the Central Uniform Division.
He also worked in the Eastern Uniform Traffic Division.
