Burglar sent to Supreme Court
the Supreme Court for sentencing after pleading guilty in Magistrate's Court to burglary.
Sonny Bell admitted to Senior Magistrate Will Francis he broke into the Paget office of Dr. Steven Trott between April 24 and April 25 and stole a black leather jacket valued at $350.
Noting Bell's extensive criminal record, Mr. Francis said he had insufficient sentencing powers to deal with Bell.

Yusef DeSilva is currently on remand in custody at Westgate after being charged last month following a raid on the Bank of Bermuda in Somerset.
Last week DeSilva appeared before Senior Magistrate Will Francis seeking to be released from prison on bail in order to help care for his four-year-old daughter who suffers from cerebral palsy.
However Leighton Rochester, for the Crown, told Mr. Francis: "We would vigorously oppose this defendant getting bail.'' Mr. Francis denied the bail and remanded DeSilva, who was represented by Elizabeth Christopher, back into custody at Westgate.
DeSilva was one of three men charged in connection with the armed bank robbery on April 9. Rupert Elroy Archibald and Michael Eugene Dillas were also charged in connection with the raid.
All three have been charged with `being armed with a dangerous weapon did rob $8,422 in Bermudian money and $9,581 in United States money, the property of the Bank of Bermuda'.
They were also charged with `being armed with a dangerous weapon did rob $15,816 in Bermudian money and $4,579 in United States money and 5.30, the property of the Bank of Bermuda'.
DeSilva, of Cobbs Hill Road, Warwick, has been charged with using a firearm while committing an indictable offence, namely armed robbery.
Archibald, of Rocky Wold Drive, Sandys, has also been charged with using a firearm while committing an indictable offence.
He was also charged with helping DeSilva "who to your knowledge had committed a felony, to wit armed robbery, in order to enable him to escape punishment'.
Dillas, of Stovell Bay Lane, Pembroke, has also been charged with helping DeSilva to escape.

Justin Tomassini, 18, of Rhode Island, had to pay a $300 fine in Magistrates' Court for possessing 2.57 grams of cannabis.
Senior Magistrate Will Francis heard that Customs officers on duty at the cruise ship terminal at Ordinance Island in St. George's on May 6 found some of the drugs on Tomassini who was a passenger on the Royal Majesty .
They found a homemade cigarette containing 1.43 grams of cannabis in his pants pocket and during a further search of Tomassini's cabin they found two clear plastic wraps with 1.14 grams of cannabis.
MAN SIAD HE STOLE TO PAY BILLS CTS Man said he stole to pay bills A social inquiry report was ordered on a 18-year-old Pembroke man who claimed he stole to pay his girlfriend's hospital bills.
Anthony Leverock, of Seagull Lane, pleaded guilty yesterday in Magistrates' Court to breaking into Stanley Burrows' Pembroke house and stealing $50 and breaking into Vera Harvey's Pembroke home on April 25.
Police prosecutor Sgt. Phil Taylor said Mr. Burrows returned to his house around 3.30 p.m. to discover someone had broken in, via a window, and stolen $50 US.
Later that same day, Mrs. Harvey said she was in her kitchen when she heard a noise coming from a bedroom.
Sgt. Taylor said she went into a bedroom and found a man who claimed he was waiting for a man name Michael.
She told the intruder to leave and he calmly walked out of the house.
Leverock told Magistrate Edward King that he stole the $50 because he needed money to pay a hospital bill for his girlfriend.
Mr. King released Leverock on $500 bail, with a surety. He is to return to court on June 17 for sentencing.
