Cambridge beaches to get health club
money when it puts in a health spa this year, manager Mr. Ivan Davies said yesterday.
The Development Applications Board this week gave the Sandys Parish cottage colony permission to convert a storeroom on its property into a health spa and create a bay window and new entrance. The DAB received the application last December.
Mr. Davies said the project would take about six weeks to complete and hopefully be ready for use this summer.
Although the health spa will not be as big as the one at Sonesta Beach Hotel, Mr. Davies said it will feature a hair salon, sauna, jacuzzi, massage rooms, exercise equipment, and offer various other spa-related activities.
"The idea was basically to try and create additional facilities for guests that will add value for the dollar,'' Mr. Davies said. "We will be leaders in the area.'' Currently the cottage colony, situated on a peninsula, features five beaches, three tennis courts, a putting green, a pool and wide array of water sports from its own dock -- including snorkelling, sailing, windsurfing and fishing.
