News director Bryan Darby carried a story on Sunday and yesterday, claiming that the college had signed a contract with two foreigners who would be paid some $80,000 a year.

Mr. Darby reported that Immigration had learned some Bermudians were overlooked for interviews for the posts and had since which instructed the college to review the appointments.

The College would therefore have to pay a year's salary to two foreigners who were scheduled to take up top posts in the coming academic year, he claimed.

But assistant to the College president Jannell Dill yesterday said she had contacted Mr. Darby about the claims.

"There was no truth to that story,'' she said. "We have requested permission to hire a Dean of Applied Studies and a Chief Financial Officer and we're awaiting word from Immigration.''
