The Development Applications Board last week gave the College approval to build a fully equipped gymnasium and another academic building.

But it has to wait for Government funding to come through before it breaks ground. Government has so far funded the college's entire expansion programme at Stonington.

The final phase involves the building of a technical hall to house classrooms for mechanical, air conditioning and other applied sciences courses.

Once the hall is built, the college's move from its Roberts Avenue campus in Prospect will be complete.

In other Development Applications Board decisions this week, Mr. Henry Dallas was given permission to turn storage area in the Dallas Building -- once used by Weldon Limited -- into a licenced private club and meeting hall. The Loyal Order of Moose Lodge, an established, fraternal US-based charity which helps people at "the beginning and end of their lives'', will occupy the club, Mr.

Dallas said.

The Dallas Building is on the corner of Victoria and Park Streets.

The DAB also shot down Mr. Sanders Frith-Brown's applications to build on to his Cedar Hill, Warwick house "Old Walls'' and further sub-divide adjoining property.

Mr. Frith-Brown had been given permission to build a condominium complex on the property next to his home on St. Mary's Road, Cedar Hill.

A Planning spokesman said it appeared he wanted to expand the project by dividing the land further to create two additional lots but it was not clear.

The DAB refused his two applications for additional lots on the grounds they contravened an agreement he made with the Environment Minister that the property would not be further subdivided.

It also ruled the proposed developments would "affect the quality and character of the Woodland Reserve Area''.

With regards to his application to build on to his home, build a garage and renovate an adjoining cottage, the DAB said insufficient information had been furnished.
