Company is told to pay up
Court judge to pay more than $60,000 in rent and service charge arrears.
The company, HDT Properties, was told to pay the cash to JHR Properties, owners of the Emporium building on Front Street.
HDT Properties holds the lease on a floor of the building and rents some of it to the law firm, which is headed by Mr. Julian Hall MP. The beneficial owners of HDT Properties include the partners of Hall, Duncan and Trott.
Lawyer for JHR Properties Mr. Steven Hankey said: "The other side consented to judgment for the amount outstanding, which was $60,670.26. As far as we're concerned that's it.'' A spokesman for Hall, Duncan and Trott was not available for comment. But it is understood that the dispute centred on a part of the floor not occupied by the law firm. HDT Properties claimed this area had been damaged by an insurance company which had occupied it, and was therefore unrentable.
