Condolences sent to the families of war veterans

Premier the Hon. Sir John Swan asked that condolences be sent to the family of Mrs. Catherine Elvira Pearman, the mother of former MP Mr. Colin Pearman and his brother Mr. Roderic Pearman.

Premier the Hon. Sir John Swan asked that condolences be sent to the family of Mrs. Catherine Elvira Pearman, the mother of former MP Mr. Colin Pearman and his brother Mr. Roderic Pearman.

Tourism Minister the Hon. C.V. (Jim) Woolridge asked that condolences be sent to the family of Mr. J.C.T. (Jack) Pitt, who died recently.

Mr. Woolridge noted that Mr. Pitt was one of Bermuda's war veterans and was also a businessman who supported sports on the Island.

Mr. Nelson Bascome (PLP) asked the House to send condolences to the family of Mrs. Sybil Lawes, "a valuable member of our community'' who worked in the Progressive Labour Party for years.

Mr. Bascome also sent condolences to the family of Mr. Cyril Wainwright, "a tower of strength'' who was active in the militia and as a sportsman in his earlier days.

Works and Engineering Minister the Hon. Leonard Gibbons asked that condolences be sent to the family of Mr. Eugene Cabral, "a quiet hard-working family man who experienced a great deal of sadness and sickness in his later years''.

Youth and Sport Minister the Hon. Pamela Gordon sent condolences to the family of Mr. Gerald Wayne Davis, who loved sports and was well-known for his job at Trimingham's.

On a happier note, Health and Social Services Minister the Hon. Quinton Edness congratulated the Bermuda National Education Council for its series of public forums on school violence.

Mr. Leon (Jimmy) Williams (PLP) congratulated Mr. David Lopes of ZBM for his "most informative'' morning radio phone-in programme.

Mrs. Grace Bell (UBP) congratulated the Coalition for the Protection of Children for amalgamating its services with the Physical Abuse Centre.

Mr. Walter Roberts (PLP) congratulated ZBM and host Mr. Rick Richardson for a "very well-handled'' television programme on Thursday night on the Under-23 Bermuda soccer players.

Deputy Opposition Leader Ms Jennifer Smith congratulated the Primary 6 and Primary 7 classes at Francis Patton School for a recent school project which will be on display on Saturday at the Education Month Fun Day at Bermuda College.

Ms Renee Webb (PLP) congratulated Black Family Productions for its fourth annual Prestige Awards for blacks who had contributed to the community.
