Mrs. Maxine Waters, whose Congresssional district includes south-central Los Angeles, said society could only benefit from an ongoing dialogue about race as is happening in Bermuda. "It's important for people to confront it no matter how difficult,'' Mrs. Waters told The Royal Gazette on the weekend.
"Only through discussion can people realise the pain of it. Then people of goodwill will do everything in their power to remove the pain of it.'' Mrs. Waters was asked her opinion of the best way to deal with the race issue following her speech to the Women's Resource Centre.
She called on Bermuda's women to keep pressing for equality in the work place and an end to domestic violence.
