Seventy-one-year-old William Roberts and his wife, Barbara, 59, must stay in custody until they reappear at Magistrates' Court next Friday.
Yesterday, their lawyer Mark Pettingill went to a Supreme Court judge, arguing for his clients to be released on bail.
But the application -- at a private hearing -- was denied. Senior Crown Counsel Brian Calhoun appeared for the prosecution.
The couple, from West Side Road, Sandys Parish, are charged with possessing cocaine intended for supply sometime between a date unknown and September 11 in Sandys.
In addition, they are accused of knowingly handling cocaine intended for supply and having 36 plastic bags, kitchen scales and a knife in connection with a controlled drug.
