Mr. Riou, 21, who works at Cambridge Beaches, was last night in stable condition at John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.

A hospital spokesman in the intensive care unit said Mr. Riou was progressing.

He was airlifted there after the crash, which involved his motorcycle and a taxi, on Middle Road, Paget last Thursday.
