Yesterday, Puisne Judge Norma Wade-Miller, chairman of the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board, issued the committee's annual report.
Last year's awards, which ranged from $700 and $70,000, totalled $572,919.86.
The payments cover medical and legal fees, travel costs, lost wages, and allowances for pain and suffering.

Other compensation recipients included a woman who is "very nearly her old self, but is still very uneasy in the dark and has not regained all of her resilience'' after being robbed and sexually assaulted on August 29, 1993.
She was granted $49,738.82 in compensation.
And a mother whose sons were involved in a fatal argument was given $47,326.60.
Brenda (Augustus) Spencer's son, Jake Wai-zu Spencer, was jailed for six years for the stabbing murder of his younger brother Umoja Spencer on February 4, 1995.
Sherrylynne Joanne Byfield, who suffered multiple stabbing and slashing wounds at the hands of her jealous, machete-wielding husband was given $34,731.

Ronald Beech, a Police officer who suffered a punctured lung while arresting an assailant, was given $13,661.59.
Eric Easton received $12,974 after being robbed, kicked and beaten with a metal rod at the Warwick Workman's Club on September 27, 1993.
A visitor to the Island was given $11,271.72 for the "considerable psychological and emotional distress'' caused by a violent robbery on August 12, 1997.
