poorer after pleading guilty yesterday in Magistrate's Court to obstructing Police officers, violently resisting arrest, possession of cannabis, and possession of drug equipment.

Senior Magistrate Will Francis was told Police observed Dwayne Talbot -- of New York City -- riding a livery cycle against the flow of traffic on Reid and Church Streets at about 2:45 a.m. on Tuesday.

Talbot was subsequently approached in front of the Canadian Hotel where officers noted he was unsteady on his feet. He was taken to the Hamilton Police station but before he could be brought into the Parliament Street entrance he bolted, running toward Front Street.

When Police officers overtook him Talbot resisted, flailing at the officers with his arms and legs before he was subdued.

Talbot's cabin was eventually searched where officers found 4.32 grams of marijuana and rolling papers. He told Police it was for personal use.

Admitting he used "bad judgement'' because he was drunk at the time, Talbot apologised to Mr. Francis. He was fined $200 for obstruction, $200 for resisting arrest, $500 for possession, and $100 for possessing drug paraphernalia.
