The man was taken to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital with injuries to his legs following the accident on Middle Road, at Fort Hill, Devonshire, shortly after 4 p.m..

A Police spokesman could not confirm a television news report that the motorcyclist went through the rear window of the taxi.

The spokesman did not know if there were passengers in the taxi at the time of the crash.
