Departing clerics praised by MPs

Health and Social Services Minister the Hon. Quinton Edness said Rev. Beaman had done much to help residents with AIDS in the nearly seven years he had been here.

Mr. Edness also asked that best wishes be sent to Salvation Army Major Elmer Pavey, who is also leaving the Island. He had helped Government set up several programmes for the homeless.

Delegated Affairs Minister the Hon. Sir John Sharpe noted Rev. Beaman had helped formulate the National Drugs Strategy. And he appreciated his efforts at bringing together the BIU and hotels after the union rejected the Hobgood award.

Education Minister the Hon. Clarence Terceira asked that congratulations be sent to Queen's Birthday Honours MBE recipients Mrs. Georgine Hill and Major Albert Benjamin.

Shadow Education Minister Ms Jennifer Smith commended dancers Jennifer Ingham and Renee Lambert, who were accepted into a prestigious dance centre in New York, and Berkeley Institute honours student Miss Kathryn Providence for winning a scholarship to study in Paris.
