a high-speed motorcycle chase through Hamilton.

They slammed on their brakes and pulled over to avoid being hit as Brangman's Yamaha zoomed through red lights, across stop signs and in and out of traffic.

The chase started on Court Street just before 1 a.m. on June 13, prosecutor Sgt. Peter Giles told Magistrates' Court yesterday.

Brangman went through a red light onto Dundonald Street, followed by a Policeman on a 250 cc bike. The 16-year-old looked back several times but carried on roaring through town and onto East Broadway. He was eventually stopped near Trimingham Hill.

Brangman, unemployed, of Laurel Lane, Sandys, admitted driving dangerously and without a licence. He was fined $800 and taken off the road for a year.

He denied other drivers had to slam on their brakes, and said he had not been aware of being followed. "I wasn't really speeding, I was just overtaking,'' he said.
