Drug trial tape

As a matter of public interest The Royal Gazette today publishes the entire transcript of the Casemates tape that was used to jail Dexter Dillas in October for his role in a multi-million dollar drug smuggling ring.

The two-hour tape was made secretly by one of Dillas' cellmates. Dillas was to be tried for conspiracy to import cocaine with others not before the Supreme Court.

But when the Crown introduced the tape as evidence on the day his trial was to begin, Dillas changed his plea to guilty.

Puisne Judge Mr. Justice Ground sentenced him the next day to 18 years in prison.

The Royal Gazette obtained a copy of the transcript under the Supreme Court (Records) Act.

Dwayne Young: Out of order.

Dexter Dillas: Oh yeah...

Young: ...You turned it off.

Dillas: ...It was on, it was on, came on quick after that. Got out of jail.

Young: When I got out, I got out November, no I got out f****** Dillas: You called me once and I talked to you remember.

Young: Right and said, what's happening.

Dillas: ...

Young: I think you was, cause you answered, hello hello hello hello hello (laughter) (Shouting).

Young: ...Dukie man. Look talk to you later, busy right now.

Julian Roberts: What you's do bye. What you's doing.

Young: Ring, ring.

Roberts: It's ringing.

Roberts: You guys must have a lot of s*** innit.

Dillas: What.

Roberts: You guys must have a lot of that s*** boy... (General mumbling unreadable).

Dillas: Look, look look JULES, kilos. (More mumbling).

Roberts: So how long you been picking up kilos.

Dillas: Every week... I made money man, I made nothing less of every key, nothing less than $150,000.00c. (More mumbling).

Dillas: ...because I turned thirty four into forty right.

Roberts: Thirty four into forty.

Dillas: Thirty four ounce I turned into forty ounces. I put four grams of cut into every twenty eight grams. A kilo is thirty four grams err thirty four ounces right. I turned thirty four into forty right. Sell them wholesale at 3,000 that is 120,000 ... usually... would end up with two extra ounces of raw and that is what I would use for my entertaining.

Young: Two ounces raw.

Dillas: Raw.

Young: (Laughs)...

Roberts: Your boy Seney used to bring you all that s*** Dillas: Yeah, he just brought two...

Roberts: A key and a half, that's what he got caught with.

Dillas: Yes. With four f****** ounces.

Roberts: How much is a kilo to buy... how many ounces.

Dillas: Thirty four ounces. Two point two pounds make a kilo... a pound is sixteen ounces...thirty two and two...thirty four.

Roberts: Oh so you had a different horse hooking you up then.

Dillas: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah he only came round in the last couple of months.

Young: Angela um um.

Dillas: ... (Mumbles) No, no the girl that got murdered, Deborah Ownes, the one who was supposed to have my baby. She f****** brought twelve kilos herself, she never got caught. Then came Julio Junki, he brought about five.

Young: Who? Dillas: Julio Junki, a Cuban boy.

Roberts: Oh, he is your main contact.

Dillas: No. Marcos Cohab, that's the guy I was working for up in the States.

After Juli came, came Ruiz, after Ruiz came Miranda after Debbie came Angela Trapasso. Also I missed out before MirandaA was Danny Latini, the guy who was in jail and died of AIDS. Daniel Latini, then there was Miranda, Miranda was heavy with Trapasso, then there was Paul Seney.

Roberts: How did your boy Ted get involved man.

Dillas: Ted picked up from f****** Tony man, from right underneath my nose, told me he was sending one key, sent two keys, didn't know he had one.

Young: ...

Dillas: I didn't know why, every time I got a key and look at it, how do you do that there? Let me see. I thought he was just being inquisitive.

Young: Curious.

Dillas: Yeah.

Young: He was just checking what's happening.

Dillas: Yeah, he learned very quick.

Young: (Loud laugh).

Roberts: Gave you a hundred and ten what.

Dillas: Thousand dollars.

Roberts: For what. For a kilo.

Dillas: ...easy. That's wholesale. I could have made two hundred or more.

Young: ...

Dillas: I was selling wholesale...this boy was making dollars...he thought that was fun. And then...come in so consistently every week, he probably said...

Young: ...one hundred and twenty thousand every week.

Dillas: Yeah, yeah. That used to go in about a week you see what I'm saying I used to have a thing with my boy of every key. I was making sixty, he was making sixty.

Roberts: Right OK.

Young: Who is that there...

Dillas: Marcos the main guy.

Roberts: Would you send him back the sixty.

Dillas: Yes. Change it all up into US, take about two weeks...change up over five thousand, he changed the whole thing clean, no records.

Young: ...

Dillas: ...

Roberts: So how your boy Hall get involved? Dillas: Huh.

Roberts: How your boy Hall got in there? Dillas: He got involved ...he knew Marcos Cohab before me.

Roberts: Oh so he must have run in between.

Dillas: No he never ... no he never really ran with it. But he used to clean up money for Marcos Cohab. When Marcos Cohab first came to Bermuda he was seventeen years old. He bought the house Rocky Thompson had right. He was caught getting out of the Island with one hundred and fifty thousand dollars.

Julian Hall got him off right. Ever since then, they became mutual friends.

Julian knew what he was about. So JULIAN was like the advisor, all his runners if they came down and got in trouble ...see what I'm saying.

Roberts: Right, right.

Dillas: He was given money to do this...

Roberts: He was a stand in lawyer more or less.

Dillas: He was given money way in advance in case of emergencies. Emergencies like...when they got busted, no money had had to be paid because Julian picked up about one hundred and fifty thousand for emergency things. You know what I'm saying. To reinvest, supposed to open up a pizza shop to camouflage the whole thing. Now with me, now with me, when I got my first two hundred dollars, well what I used to do was dig a hole in the area up my house.

Roberts: ...

Dillas: ...area up by my house. But this guy, he was working for Ted went out to the woods to s*** I don't know what made him go up this part of the hill but went up to drop a s*** and stepped on a soft part and found about about one hundred and fifty thousand. I went to dig that day and it was gone.

Young: Loud laugh.

Roberts: Who was the guy.

Dillas: Ross Smith. I had a fit.

Roberts: You had a fit.

Dillas: Hey boy I went crazy. Hey boy check it out I need some covers. Two days I couldn't figure out who it was... Ted Ming, so he was keeping his tools downstairs at Ted's house right.

Roberts: Two.

Dillas: His tool kit and stuff like that. And f*** him up. I started accusing all these guys...so I bought him a.. .I went back up the hill. I took the toolbox right...and when he was on his lunch break I just put the tool boxes in the sand, down beneath his tools and left there. I wanted to see if I could get a reaction from him. He must have came back and one of his tool boxes must have freaked, I didn't see him come back to the house. Jules and me had knocked off, he went away, I didn't see him for two days. After two days boy we guys..still ..for that thing. The man came to the door and knocked. I said who is it.

Roberts: The cops.

Dillas: I said who is it. It's Ross. I said what happened. He said f***, I can't do this anymore, I've got you guys money I said what I said your bullsh**** He said yeah man, you guys, he was worried that you was careless and was watching you. He had the apartment he was fixing, the bathroom weren't working, so I went up into the woods, Ted's got a whole acre in the woods that combines with the Southampton Princess property. I just went up there to get a s*** man and I stumbled, the ground felt a little soft, so I just got curious, I think you guys were doing a little number, I figured it was better me do it, get the money in some stranger would have stumbled on it, but it weren't...

if I hadn't put the tool kit there, he would have never told he took that money, we f***** him up, couldn't live with it, couldn't even sleep. When you guys put the tool box there, I thought you guys were outside my house.

Young: Loud laugh.

Dillas: I couldn't live with myself man.

Young: He's f****** scared.

Dillas: I gave him five thousand dollars off the top, that was the was point where Julian came, he said now fella you can't be burying this f***** money like that, that was a life time of risk but I made two, took two hundred round Julian's house. Julian used to call me up nightly sometimes you know, saying cause I had him on the line like...

Roberts: But he was sniffing all that was he.

Dillas: Yer, yer that's what I'm telling you now, this is why he first came into it.

Roberts: But he was actually, what did he do, did he smoke it or snort it? Young: Just sniff, just sniff.

Dillas: Two years ago me and...

Roberts: Do you still... do all that there now? Dillas: ... he might do. Two years ago, when the man knocked down my door the first time we started when moose rock set me up, I flushed six ounces.

Roberts: Who's that guy...

Dillas: George umm (All speak together)...

Young: ...Andre Mouchette... s*** my bretherin from Prospect Primary.

Dillas: Yer, he was the one that set me up right.

Young: That's right, that's right.

Dillas: I went away with the Strollers right. All that coke he was doing up forty second, it was my coke.

Young: ...down.. Dillas: I was dealing...

Young: Down Crawl.

Dillas: I was giving that guy three to four ounces sometimes down f***** day right. F****** guy went away with the Strollers and left me with all these ounces, I didn't know he got busted on forty second with all these fifties.

Young: Yes he did.

Dillas: I came back in the Island the guy made a deal with the man.

Roberts: With the cops.

Dillas: With the cops I called him when I got back in Island and said hey, you got my money. He told me, look, man, I only got about seven thousand, the man came up here and busted and I had to throw the s*** away. I said, alright, cool, s*** happens, we'll make it back up. I'm really believing him now right.

So anyway, this is about a day before Cup Match, we came back in the island, so we had a Cup Match party at my house. Moose Rock comes up to my home to the party.. I didn't give him nothing like, OK, I'm going to give you a break, take three or four weeks break, let the heat get off you. Same week, Cup Match week, he comes up to the house to a party and says look man, I've got twelve thousand cash ready now, I wonder if I can have six ounces. I said who's it for. He said, it's for me. The guys setting me up.. I said, look, OK, I'm not going to do it tonight because I'm not doing it f****** night time, set it up for tomorrow. But he's insisting, no man, tonight's the night. I said, no man, I've got guests up here, I'm not going out in the bushes. Then anyway next night he called me and I said, call me tomorrow, just after when the sun goes down. So he called me about six o'clock.

Young: In the morning.

Dillas: Six or seven o'clock, no in the evening time, he said look, I'm ready to deal, I said okay where you too, cause I had when he called me I was just bagging up. I had the triple beam.. triple beam scale, big scale.

Young: ...Oh the big f****** Dillas: The man got it, the man got it.. check this out, I'm here, yes this was a close call.

Young: That's how made first guy.

Dillas: .. newspaper on the table, made up all the ounces. Triple beam scale, gloves on. Me yeah, the gloves are on.

Young: That's the thousand one.

Dillas: Yer a thousand one. Plastic bags with all the cut stuff okay.. he calls me, I told him to call when he leaves forty second call...(Speaks together)...Hotel... .works, started to say myself position I'm just wouldn't come up, so after a little while the call came through, it came boomp where you too Inverurie, how you travelling, cab.. cab I said look don't make the driver in the yard alright, okay, alright so he'll be she'll be there about five minutes, so it's doc's first cousin, that's how I gave him the hassle, so anyway, f****** well five minutes, OK, it's a good job I told him, I said, doc go out there and watch for the boy when he comes because I've told him lots of times, he don't listen, he brings the cab right up in the yard.

Larry go out in the f****** yard bye, this is after about seven or eight minutes. All of a sudden boy, all these f******, f******* um um Lancers and s*** came up in the yard (Errrrrr) doors are slamming, hey doc came in, all I heard the cars, I thought that they we're chasing somebody. Doc came running down the steps shaking, the f***** man, I've the six f****** ounces. I said, what put the lock on the f****** door, it's a bust, they're coming to bust us.

Larry was shaking so much the man could not even...he's shaking, shaking like this here...I've got the six ounces bye, I went to the f****** toilet, lift up the bow bye, stuffed the whole plastic thing up the hole right stuffed it up the hole right f***** hit the button bye, pressed on. That's how I had experienced this... I was so use to doing it, paranoia, hit the thing, the package just went Phut pressure gone. Now the man's coming through the door, they saw Larry running, so they bust the f****** door down, so I had enough time. It was six ounces but I had a raw ounce, because what I was doing is only five ounces, I had an extra ounce, he came what I was doing, four sixes is twenty four, I forgot about that. I flushed the six, so here I am, they're breaking the door down with a f****** mallet and the ounces right there. I had dead locks on the door. I had done all this and Larry had done nothing. I flushed the six ounces, I came back to the table, oh f******, triple beam scale, what am I f****** going to do, took the f****** triple beam scales, wiped it off as they're breaking the f****** door down and threw it in the f****** closet, to say it weren't set up, but I did have enough time to like, OK, what they found there was a newspaper traces of cocaine all over the f****** table. OK, check this out, the man come, Norell Hull and all the big f****** boys.. Roberts: Who? Dillas: Norell Hull. All the other ones.

Young: Norell Hull. He's a Jamaican guy. He was there, he was in charge of Narcotics.

Roberts: Who else? Dillas: All of them. About twenty of them, Dennis Greene. All of them came running through the wood, they were all around the house. Everywhere. I said of, f*** Came in, so they got the traces of coke on the table.. who the f*** set me up. So anyway I forgot part of the extra ounce, just before the door was coming down I saw the ounce now was on the f****** floor, couldn't go back to the bathroom, because they had start breaking the f****** door, Ted's hatch took the f****** ounce, went to Ted's hatch, right Boom, kicked the hatch.

Roberts: Where's the hatch? Dillas: He had the, the hatch is, did you read the first case? Roberts: No, I...

Dillas: The whole controversy was if Ted Ming was done that just for drugs.

Ted, my apartment was right here, Ted had, like, some stairs steps that go up from the apartment and have a dummy hatch in the ceiling, which went into the living room. That was a big thing in the second case, you remember right. So I said, f*** the hatch is the only way out, I hit the f****** hatch and Ted heard the bust and Ted was standing right to the edge. I said, Ted, they're coming. Threw the ounce to him, Ted put it down his f****** pants, threw the hatch down. Just when I came back down the steps, man was in, boom knocked me to the f****** ground, I said oh, f*** So, anyway, when the man came in, this is how we knew Moose Rock set me up, f***** Norell Hull came in, you f****** boys gonna get twenty f****** years, you're f****** busted. Where's the f***** six ounces. Ehhhh, when he said the exact number I said f****** Mouchette, that bastard. Man said the man said the exact figure.

Roberts: Andre Mouchette.

Dillas: Yeah. He said know we got six ounces in the house, gonna find it. Man raised the whole house. Ripped everything up. Where's those f****** six ounces. I said I ain't got no six ounces, he said, what's the f*** the newspaper, I said look, sir, I use coke, I said when you came in I'd just finished buying a gram down the road. Me and my boy buy coke every for our habit so, why the newspapers there. I said what we was doing was breaking up our amount equally see what I'm saying now the scale thing, the scale thing, found the scale, I said now me and your boy. I'm talking like a bastard now, now this f****** man here, I've beaten him up before because he steals coke from me. I'm telling Larry now, he's looking at me. He steals coke from me that's why I borrowed this scale from my boy so that whenever we halves on a couple of grams I pull the f****** scale and weigh the f****** thing.

Roberts: What, on a big scale like that there.

Dillas: Yeah...

Young: Yeah...

Roberts: Thought they used tiny scales, man.

Dillas: Young: (Talking together, unreadable).

Dillas: No, what I'm saying there's been a mistake. The man's questioning was f***** there was zero point something traces of coke there, or something, the main thing is now the intent to supply. They ain't got no money in here, you ain't got the six ounces, so this is the bulls*** line they're putting. That's the thing. We guys can go to Court and beat that f***** thing on that rap thing.

Roberts: So, what you do about Mouchette.

Dillas: Drop the case.. Yeah, he set me the f*** up.

Dillas: You're bringing more cocaine in, he says. Check this out. When they handcuffed us, Ted came down.. Ted came down the stairs what's going on, officers. What you doing all over the house. Mr. Ming, these boys been selling coke in your apartment and you ain't gonna see them for a long time. They have six ounces of coke in this house and we're gonna find it.. They couldn't find out. F***, they went crazy. Guys slappin' me about, saying where's the six ounce. F***, I don't know what you're talking about.. F***, I don't know what you are talking about, they hadn't found that there so what they had brought us in was for possession of cocaine and drug equipment, that's when they ordered us to... services. That was the first time...I took it as far as a user, but they still couldn't get me...

Roberts: What time? Dillas: This last...the first case...this time they said I'd flushed a kilo down the toilet.

Roberts: What, you did.

Dillas: No, boy, I had a half an ounce, that's all I had. .Because check this out...

Roberts: But you had a kilo.

Dillas: Yeah, I had a key. Done it off I finished it.

Roberts: You sold it? Dillas: Yeah. I was laying on the couch when they came down this time.

Roberts: Mm.

Dillas: When they came inside womp. So they won't answer, did it again womp.

Jumped off the f****** couch man... Straight down the f****** toilet..

Roberts: What you had what you had. How much you had on you when you? Dillas: Half ounces this time the thing. Lies. Well I had three dead locks on my door before I put an extra on it. So I had four dead locks.. to the f****** concrete this time, break it. Said now, big them big f****** dead locks.

Roberts: Yeah.
