Oshea Saltus, 18, of Alexandra Road was arrested by Police on another matter and searched. Officers were searching the folds of his pants when they discovered he was holding something.

When asked what it was, he replied: "It's mine.'' An analysis of what Saltus was holding found that he was carrying 1.53 grams of cannabis.

Magistrate Edward King fined Saltus $300 for the offence and told him to pay $550 in unpaid traffic violations or serve 28 days in prison.
