Eight months for thief
the next eight months in prison.
Garth Hayward, 29, of Evans Bay, Southampton pleaded guilty to three charges of breaking and entering and an additional charge of theft between May 10 and June 17 at an earlier appearance at Magistrates' Court.
Hayward admitted stealing more than $300 worth of liquor on May 10 by entering a Sentinel Hill home through a window while the owner was away.
Two days later, Hayward entered another home, on Tribe Road Number Three, while no one was there.
He gained access through a window and stole more than $50 worth of liquor, food and cigarettes.
On June 10, Hayward entered another Sentinel Hill home and stole a $200 portable CD/tape/radio player.
And on June 17, Hayward broke into yet another Sentinel Hill home through a window and stole $55 worth of liquor.
But he tripped an alarm system and was arrested by Police.
Yesterday, Senior Magistrate Will Francis ordered Hayward to serve eight months in prison on each count. All the sentences are to run concurrently.
