Elbow Beach seeking DAB approval for expansion
permission to develop its South Shore site.
A notice of the Elbow Beach Hotel and Development Company Ltd.'s intention to develop the land appeared in The Royal Gazette earlier this month.
General manager Ingo Schweder said he was unable to discuss the hotel's new plans until early December when the DAB is expected to decide on the application.
He added he would also have to speak to the hotel's owner, Saudi Arabia's Prince Khalid Bin Sultan, before commenting.
A description of the proposed development under the title "Master Plan'' includes a new conference centre, entryway, parking, tennis courts, 29 additional dwelling units, 65 junior suites, one master suite, the conversion of an internal room to an office, staff accommodation, service area and access improvements and a sewage treatment plant.
Last year the hotel announced plans for a $20 million revamp as Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, which had the management contract previously, was replaced by the Rafael Group.
This followed a $20 million refurbishment of the hotel four years before.
But earlier this year, the hotel withdrew six planning applications for the property to bring them into line with the thinking of the new managers.
A new architect and designer were engaged to come up with new plans for the site to replace the plans and drawings of the hotel which had been prepared between 1990 and 1992.
