Elderly woman attacked
her home for the second time in two years.
The 78-year-old woman was the victim of an attempted robbery yesterday morning, when a man forced his way into Loughlands Guest House in South Road, Paget, demanding money and hitting her in the face.
The lady, who has not been named, was treated at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for cuts and abrasions about her head and neck.
The woman's screams were heard by a passerby, shortly before 11.30 a.m.
yesterday, who raised the alarm.
Police were called and found the woman kneeling on the floor, covered in blood. Nothing is believed to have been stolen.
A family friend said the victim was in shock from the attack, which she said was worse than the previous incident.
In November 1996 the woman was attacked by a male who she answered the door to late at night.
During that incident she was grabbed by the throat and thrown on to a couch, before the man ripped a gold necklace from her neck. He then escaped on a motorcycle.
Following yesterday's incident, the woman was taken to hospital for treatment.
Police arrested a 28-year-old Pembroke man and a 26-year-old Warwick man in connection with the incident.
Anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the South Road or Middle Road, Paget area between 10.30 a.m. and 11.30 a.m. is asked to call Detective Constable Nicholas Pedro on 299 4281.
