Fire Service spokesman Lt. Jon Thompson reported that they received call before 3 p.m., but when they attended the A-1 grocery store parking lot in Smith's Parish, the fire had already been extinguished by the store's staff.

The driver had noticed smoke coming out of the compartment and pulled over when the fire began.

Lt. Thompson said the plastic surrounding the plastic area of the dashboard was burnt causing an estimated $800 damage.

The woman was not injured.
