Michael Cleveland Gibbons, 22, climbed out a window at Police headquarters in July just moments before he was due to take part in a identification parade.

He was captured a few days later only to escape again from Hamilton Police Station.

Gibbons, of Green Acres Road, Devonshire, was due to be sentenced yesterday in Magistrates' Court. But the social inquiry report that Senior Magistrate William Francis needed to read was not ready, leaving Mr. Francis to ponder remand or bail.

Defence counsel Marc Telemaque said Gibbons had no record of ever breaking bail, adding that Gibbons' parents would act as his sureties.

But Crown counsel Charmaine Smith argued Gibbons may be a danger to himself if let out of custody.

She argued Gibbons had once pledged to commit suicide, although she conceded that it was hard to tell how serious he was in doing this.

In the end, Mr. Francis decided that Gibbons should be remanded in custody for another four weeks before the sentencing which will be September 22.

TEEN THIEF EARNS PROBABTION CTS Teen thief earns probabtion A teenager who broke into two houses has received 30 months of probation.

Keivon Eugene Scott, 17, pleaded guilty to two charges of breaking and entering when he appeared in Magistrates' Court in June.

Yesterday, Senior Magistrate William Francis handed down the sentence, following a social inquiry report.

But Mr. Francis said Scott, of Spice Hill Road, Warwick, must "toe the line'' and stay out of trouble otherwise he could end up in the Co-ed Facility for "corrective training''.

IMPAIRED TEEN TAKEN OFF THE ROAD CTS Impaired teen taken off the road A teenager received a warning by a Magistrate earlier this week for drunk driving.

Larry Marshall, 16, of Valley Heights, Devonshire, pleaded guilty to impaired driving on July 9.

Magistrate Edward King heard that Marshall had fallen off his bike twice on North Shore Road when Police pulled him over at 9.15 p.m. that day.

They noticed that Marshall's breath smelled heavily of intoxicants and a breath test revealed a blood alcohol level of 196 milligrams in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 milligrams per 100 millilitres.

Marshall was fined $600 and banned from driving for 12 months.
