Ex-cyclist makes Police complaint
with by a new Police watchdog.
The Police Complaints Authority, already wading through 12 unfinished case files, was handed a new dossier on Thursday.
Mr. Nusum, 33, claims he was set upon by eight officers because of a parking offence.
He said the incident on Church Street, Hamilton, in summer 1995, left him with a herniated disc and stopped him from competitive cycling.
Father-of-three Mr. Nusum, of Valley Lane, Paget, said he was already being represented by lawyers at Francis and Forrest.
He added: "I had to sit idly by while the Commonwealth Games were on.
"Any hopes I had of going to the Sydney 2000 Olympics have gone too. Plus, I can no longer work full-time and I'm just a part-time livery man at Eve's Cycles.'' A Police spokeswoman said: "We cannot comment on this matter as it is still being investigated by the Police Complaints Authority.'' The five-member Authority is chaired by Coles Diel.
Anyone who wants to file a complaint without speaking to Police should call the Ministry of Home Affairs on 297-7822.
