Road, Devonshire.

William Cox, of Mayflower Drive, Devonshire, was stopped at 6.30 p.m. on May 15 this year, Police prosecutor Sgt. Donald Grant told Magistrates' Court.

Sgt. Grant said the officers saw Cox riding a blue motorcycle without a helmet. Cox also failed to stop at a stop sign near the Tee Street junction in Devonshire.

The 69-year-old reportedly told the officers that someone had stolen his helmet and he was on his way home to get another. But he admitted he had "had a few drinks'' and the officers noted that Cox was unsteady on his feet, said Sgt. Grant.

Cox -- ex-UBP MP for Devonshire South -- was taken to the Hamilton Police Station, but failed to provide an accurate blood alcohol reading. Senior Magistrate Will Francis ordered Cox to pay $450 and banned him from driving all motor vehicles for 12 months.
