man on Friday in Magistrates' Court.

The $1,540 in fines handed to Allan Daniels came after he admitted speeding at 65 kph.

Daniels, 22, of Brooklyn Lane, said he did not remember the offence. He was brought to court in Police custody after a warrant was issued for his arrest for not paying several traffic tickets.

Daniels pleaded not guilty to a speeding ticket of 65 kph, saying that he couldn't recall the incident, and that he normally kept all his speeding tickets together.

When Mr. Warner asked why he pleaded not guilty, Daniels interrupted: "This is the reason youngsters are so rebellious, you don't even give me a fair chance.

"I say I'm not guilty and you want me to say I'm guilty,'' Daniels added.

But Mr. Warner appeared to not like Daniels' tone, telling him "you can't be difficult in my court'' before saying "you don't have to say anything at all''.

After Mr. Warner showed a duplicate of the ticket to Daniels, his plea changed and he was fined $320.

But the court was not through because Daniels' other recent offences suddenly appeared on Mr. Warner's desk.

He was fined $450 and disqualified from riding all motorcycles for one year for speeding at 70 kph and riding without a valid licence.

But when Crown Counsel Juan Wolfe alerted Mr. Warner that Daniels still had $800 in fines that he hadn't paid since 1998, Daniels said: "I intended to pay them today.'' Clearly unimpressed, Mr. Warner told him that this would be a good time, or he'd end up in jail for 75 days.
