Gazette granted leave to appeal

to refuse the lifting of an injunction banning publication of a third transcript from a major drugs trial.
Puisne Judge the Hon. Mr. Justice Ward yesterday gave the newspaper leave to appeal the matter to the Bermuda Court of Appeals.
It is to be heard in mid-July when the court next visits the Island.
Yesterday's hearing before Mr. Ward also saw lawyer Mr. Julian Hall MP argue that the newspaper's defence relating to the printing of two transcripts should be struck out.
Mr. Ward reserved judgment on Mr. Hall's application.
Mr. Hall is suing the newspaper for printing earlier this year two transcripts that were used to jail Dexter Dillas in October for his role in a drug smuggling ring.
