Peter and Margaret Lewis say Islanders will always be in their prayers and ask for them to be richly rewarded.

Ms Middleton, 17, was found dead on Ferry Road in the early hours of Wednesday, July 3. She had been stabbed.

Since her death two men, Justis Raham Smith, 17, and Kirk Orlando Mundy, 21, have appeared in Magistrates' Court charged in connection with her murder.

The Canadian girl's death also stunned Bermuda and prompted local dentist Dr.

Ian Campbell into starting a fund raising campaign for the Rebecca Middleton Scholarship Trust, which has so far raised about $46,000.

Ms Middleton's grandparents wrote an open letter to the The Royal Gazette from Belleville, Ontario -- their grandchild's home.

The letter is written to `The People of Bermuda' and says: "May we please express our sincere and deepest `thank you' for your kindness to our granddaughter Becky Middleton's memory.

"You will always be in our hearts and prayers. Your thoughtfulness will never be forgotten, as Becky will be to us.''
