and sick and hundreds of miles from home last month.

But a little TLC from experts at the Bermuda Aquarium and Zoo has seen the little loggerhead turtle make a full recovery. Head aquarist Jennifer Gray said strong currents had probably washed Timmy all the way from the centre of the Sargasso Sea 2,300 miles to Bermuda's North East to Dockyard. She said: "They find themselves with nothing to eat.

"A concerned citizen spotted he was in trouble. He was slightly oiled which probably came off one of the boats and he was floating lethargically. We cleaned him up. He wasn't in critical condition.'' And after six-weeks of shrimps, crabs and mussels Timmy was ready to be released into his home environment after hitching a lift on board the Biostation's research vessel the Weatherbird II . Ms. Gray said: "I am grateful for them taking Timmy under their wing.''
