Hartley's Under Sea Adventures owner Mr. Greg Hartley found himself the victim of a cruel act of vandalism last week, and is now offering a reward for
He discovered that vandals -- "presumably kids'' -- had smashed three of the specially-designed helmets that are vital to his business.
The intricately-detailed helmets, which he custom designs and makes, are "virtually irreplaceable'' at short notice, he said.
The helmets allow tourists to walk on the sea bed and observe underwater life without having had any previous diving experience.
"I have to make these myself. No one else in Bermuda can make them to my specifications, and I am preparing for the new season, which will begin very soon.
"The boat is up on the slip, and the Police have been notified.
"But once she goes overboard, it will be very difficult (to conduct investigations).'' He estimated that the damage caused amounted to about $400.
