Nakia Lee, of Cloverdale Lane, Devonshire, pleaded guilty to possessing an offensive weapon on October 4 in Smith's Parish.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Anthony Mouchette said Police were on patrol in the Gilbert Hill, Smith's area when they saw a knife hanging from Lee's belt.

When questioned about the knife, Lee said: "I have it for my protection. I haven't used it yet.'' Duty Counsel Mr. Mark Pettingill told Acting Senior Magistrate the Wor.

Cheryl-Ann Mapp that young men carrying knives was "an unfortunate sign of the times''.

But Mrs. Mapp made it clear that it should not be tolerated and ordered Lee to pay a fine of $150.

Jevon N. Lawrence, of Alexander Road, yesterday pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to receiving a stolen motorcycle, failing to stop for Police on Middle Road in Southampton, driving while disqualified, driving without third party insurance and dangerous driving on November 28.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Anthony Mouchette said Police were on patrol in Southampton about 10 p.m. when they saw Lawrence riding a stolen bike.

Sgt. Mouchette said Lawrence continued riding despite being signalled to stop.

Lawrence caused other vehicles to take evasive actions as a result of his dangerous riding and eventually lost control of the bike on Homestead Lane.

Lawrence attempted to run away but was caught.

Mrs. Mapp ordered Lawrence to pay an $800 fine for receiving the stolen cycle.

A total of $240 of the fine was to go to the owner of the cycle for compensation.

Lawrence was also fined $100 for failing to stop for Police, $350 for having no insurance, $500 for dangerous driving and $500 for driving while disqualified.

He was banned from driving all motor vehicles for another six months.

"Your grand total for getting somewhere in a hurry is $2,250,'' Mrs. Mapp told Lawrence.

BANNED A YEAR FOR DRINK DRIVING CTS Banned a year for drink driving Driving after drinking yesterday cost a 55-year-old Paget man $400 and a year off the road.

Ernest Mello, of Moongate Lane, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to driving along Somerset Road in Sandys while impaired on November 15.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Anthony Mouchette said Police were on patrol about 11 p.m. when they saw a car driving in an erratic manner.

Upon stopping Mello, the officers noticed his breath smelled of alcohol and he was unsteady on his feet.

Mello was found to have 141 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitre of blood.

The legal limit is 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

DAREDEVIL RIDER EARNS $900 FINE CTS Daredevil rider earns $900 fine A 35-year-old Sandys Parish man was yesterday fined $900 for four different traffic offences.

Ricky Smith, of Beacon Hill, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to driving in a dangerous manner, having no third party insurance, fraudulently using a Transport Control Department sticker, and having no vehicle licence. Police Prosecutor Sgt. Kenrick James said Police on mobile patrol at the Railway Trail in Sandys on July 11 saw Smith doing "pop-a-wheelies''.

The Police put on emergency lights to get Smith to stop, Sgt. James said. But Smith sped away on Beacon Hill Road.

Sgt. James added that Smith was travelling "very fast'' and overtook cars.

Police eventually caught up with Smith on Broom Street where they arrested him on suspicion of theft because the TCD sticker on his bike did not match TCD records.

Magistrate the Wor. Edward King ordered Smith to pay a fine of $350 for driving in a dangerous manner, $350 for having no third party insurance, $100 for fraudulently using a TCD sticker, and $100 for having no vehicle licence.
