It is understood the horse, belonging to John DeShields, received `superficial' injuries. The carriage driver, Sean James, Mr. DeShield's son, refused to comment, saying the publicity could cripple his business and future.

He said the horse and carriage was how he fed his family and he did not want to hurt his business.

However, Mr. DeShields said the injured horse, Jerry, would be resting until their private vet could examine him.

The business owns six other horses and three other carriages.

An eyewitness told The Royal Gazette something appeared to have frightened the animal causing it to bolt free of its carriage and into a car. No one was injured in the incident.
