Hotel chiefs deny Elbow/Belmont talks

representatives on Monday over the possibility of buying the Warwick property were shot down yesterday.

But the possibility that Elbow Beach, on the South Shore in Paget, is looking to expand into the adjourning Parish has not been ruled out.

Belmont general manager Gordon Slatford told The Royal Gazette yesterday: "I am the sole representative in Bermuda for the Belmont.

"I was in Toronto over the weekend and did not get back until about 2 p.m.

yesterday and I have not got anything to report.

"Nobody else from the company was on the Island yesterday and while I was doing hotel business in Toronto it had nothing to do with selling the property.'' But talks are ongoing with two prospective buyers who are interested in the hotel, continued Mr. Slatford.

"We certainly have been talking to two prospective buyers and we are still in discussions but no contracts have been exchanged.'' And he refused to say who the prospective buyers were.

Meanwhile Elbow Beach general manager Bill Shoaf refused to comment.
