The BHA may undergo a change of name as part of radical plans to bring all holiday properties from large hotels to small bed and breakfasts into one powerful, unified organisation that speaks for the whole industry.

Only 48 of the Island's 62 hotels and lodging houses have joined the BHA, and the group has recognised it needs to attract more smaller businesses.

The organisation planned the radical changes following a one and a half day summit ending yesterday at the Cambridge Beaches Hotel.

BHA President Muriel Richardson described the forum as the dawning of "a new era'' for Bermuda's hotel industry.

Within the next three months, the BHA will firm up the blueprint for change agreed at the seminar and decide on whether to change its name.
