year, Government still recorded a current account surplus of almost $10 million, Finance Minister Grant Gibons told the House of Assembly.
And overall spending was $12.5 million lower than the original estimate.
The Island's public transport network, Police Service and health care subsidies formed the bulk of the $6.68 million being requested in supplementary estimates put to the House of Assembly on Friday.
Dr. Gibbons said an additional $3.5 million was required for capital projects, including improvements at the airport and minor repair work at St. Brendan's.
But again he reiterated that, although the projects had been unbudgeted, the amount approved in the budget had still exceeded actual spending by nearly $10 million.
