Secretary responsible for the equally new Central Policy Unit.

The Central Policy Unit is to be formed to compare and integrate policies within Government Departments and encourage a more corporate approach within the Civil Service.

The Assistant Cabinet Secretary (Policy), a $117,226 a year job, will report directly to the Cabinet Secretary.

Initially, the successful applicant will work with a British Civil Servant who has experience in improving policy management and coordination.

The post holder must have relevant professional or post-graduate management qualifications and at least five years working experience, particularly in a senior management position.

Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work on sensitive areas of policy with diplomacy and tact and an analytical mind with problem solving abilities are vital for the post holder.

The Assistant Cabinet Secretary for Policy will be working on many of the issues Government intends to improve the Civil Service.
