Elizabeth Cadell, 33, was found dead by her boyfriend at the couple's home on Harvey Hill Road, Smith's Parish, last May.

But when an inquest into the death was opened yesterday, coroner's officer Sgt. Donald Grant asked that the matter be adjourned so that the Attorney General could examine the case.

"The Attorney General is reviewing the papers with regard to the sudden death of Elizabeth Cadell and is asking for an adjournment of two months so that he can decide on what to do next,'' he said.

An extensive Police investigation began following the discovery of Ms Cadell's body on the afternoon of May 31. Her boyfriend Tony Bukhari, himself a Police officer, was questioned several times by detectives over discrepancies between his account of the tragedy and autopsy findings.

Although Police initially described the death as "not suspicious'' yesterday's adjournment has fuelled speculation that the Attorney General could be preparing to press charges in the case.

Senior Magistrate Will Francis yesterday agreed to adjourn the inquest until April 3.
