Abdul Karriem Smith, 25, of Glebe Road, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to the offences that occurred on August 5.

Prosecuting, Sgt. Kenrick James said Smith went to his ex-girlfriend's Verdmont Valley home after receiving a letter from her lawyers warning him to stay away.

"The complainant asked him to leave,'' Sgt. James said. And an argument ensued.

During the argument, Smith picked up a photograph of himself and his ex-girlfriend's child and smashed it on the floor.

Sgt. James said Smith had nothing to say when Police arrived.

But Smith told Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis: "She took me on the property, but because we started to argue, she called the Police.

"I smashed the picture -- no big deal. I did not hit her. Which would you rather me do -- hit her or smash the picture?'' "Have you decided that it is better for you to stay away as you've been told?'' Mr. Francis asked.

"I had a night to think about that and I decided that it is best to stay away,'' Smith replied.

He was fined $150 for each offence.
