KBB back petition `to save the planet'
Bermuda Beautiful group.
And KBB chiefs are hoping that thousands of environmentally-aware Bermudians will join them by signing a petition.
Millions around the world have already signed -- and the petition will be handed to the United Nations General Assembly in September.
The petition, entitled "A Bill Of Rights For Future Generations'', is spearheaded by underwater explorer Jacques Cousteau.
It calls for world leaders to fight for the Bill to be adopted by the General Assembly.
And it highlights the danger to earth from overpopulation and "human excesses''.
It also demands the rights of future generations be formally declared so they can inherit an "uncontaminated'' planet.
KBB activist Mrs. Kay Latter said she hoped up to 2,000 Bermudians would sign the petition.
She added: "KBB is putting its weight behind this petition because it is important to future generations of Bermudians as it is to the rest of the world.'' People can sign at KBB's office on Bermuda House Lane.
